Mercury Retrograde Strikes Again

It’s SUPER-exciting when you pitch a story to an editor and they say, “Sounds interesting. Send me the manuscript!” So, you get all your ducks in a row (you think) and draft your cover e-mail to sound smart and funny, to stand out and yet fit in. (Yes, it’s a lot like adolescence.)

And then you hit SEND and feel all good about yourself, life, and the universe. Until fifteen minutes later when, God knows why, you decide to re-read what you sent.

That last minute edit right before you hit send?  Well, turns out it accidentally erased an important piece the editor might want to know (like that this is the first novel in a whole fucking series!) AND imported the wrong font for the last line that did print.  So, now the whole (yet also now incomplete) communication is a very professional, respectable 12-point font until

the last line jumps out at you in a screaming 16-point font.

It was not a 16-point font worthy line. Sigh.
