Gone Book Clubbing…

Got an author invite to a make a guest appearance at a book club who chose Chasing Shadows for their book of the month to read!! Talk about making an author’s day. They fed me, ‘bourbon-ed’ me … (Is that a word? Wined and dined is, so it seems that other beverages should have the same tense options, right??)

They quizzed me about what it was like to be a criminal defense lawyer and defend guilty people (WAY easier than defending the innocent ones, let me tell you. Those are the ones who keep you awake at night!) and debated whether Annie should REALLY have accepted that money after all because hey … LOTS O’ MONEY, right??

We talked about sexy scenes and safe words and how a writer inside the head of both parties may not be quite as circumspect as either of the players in a scenario probably ought to be since they AREN’T in the other person’s head.  Because, hey … truth, right?

And they talked about life and kids and jobs and plans and worries and all the things that make book clubs such a wonderful thing, a place to step outside of the daily all-of-it and connect with other kindred soul over books and so much more.  I mean … right???
