Elsie Silver’s Chestnut Springs Series
I always love finding a new author – even if sometimes they’re just new to ME – and romance author, Elsie Silver is my newest ‘read-everything -the-woman-has-written’ find. Her five-book series set in and around the Canadian small town of Chestnut Springs and its surrounding ranchland, is an absolute delight.
Following the story of the Eaton family and their friends and extended family, every book is the ideal mix of sexy, funny, and poignant as the characters muddle their way through their respective baggage to make way for their very own and very steamy happily-ever-after:
- The champion bull-rider aging out of the sport that’s defined him and the ‘I-have-to-be-perfect-to-justify-my-father’s-sacrifice-for-me lawyer who really just wants to be a personal trainer [Flawless];
- The pathologically serious single dad so focused on ensuring everyone around him is taken care of that he doesn’t allow himself to even consider doing something just for fun and the wild child who’s never been taken seriously [Heartless];
- The hockey star abandoned as a child and taken in by the family that means everything to him and their younger cousin who grew into his best friend — only now both of them want more but are terrified to do anything about it for fear of destroying the one relationship they can rely on [Powerless]
- The newly divorced doctor trying to put her life back together whose one-night fling with the playboy of the rodeo circuit results in the baby she’s desperately wanted … and the guy blindsided by a child he didn’t know he had and a single-minded attraction he can’t ignore [Reckless]
The injured military hero trying to find a new calling and the ‘town-trash’ bartender desperate to escape her family’s reputation [Hopeless].
AND it turns out there’s a precursor series to the Chestnut Springs stories that I didn’t know about until after, but they were still fun to read – the Gold Rush Ranch series following the little sister of the Eaton family who has moved away from the family ranch and into the world of high-stakes horse-racing and the various people of her world: Off to the Races, The Front Runner, A Photo Finish, and A False Start.
And she has MORE books I’m still exploring! So, if you’re up for a fun rabbit hole, follow me on down….!!
